Give the Gift of Seasonal Charcuterie
Make your local loved one’s Thanksgiving special and show how grateful you are for them by creating a local foods charcuterie spread – drop it on their porch or serve at your own Thanksgiving!
Making your Local Fall Harvest Charcuterie Board:
The five main elements of charcuterie are cheese, sweet, savory, meat, and bread. Here’s some suggestions to get you started!
Cheese and Meats: Maple candied bacon, cured meats, sausage, meat sticks, jerky, balogna
Seasonal Produce: Apples and pears; sweet potato; squash; mushrooms
Jams/preserves & Sweets: Bring in fruit flavors that are “out of season” with raspberry/black berry jam or peach/apricot preserves; Maple roasted nuts
Briny/Savory elements: Pickles, pickled veggies, toasted pumpkin seeds
Spreads/Condiments: Mustards, pumpkin hummus, honey, artisan vinegar, pesto, dipping oil
Crackers/bread -Choose what you like, but baguettes are always a win! Keep the fall theme with nut/seed based crackers
Add a bottle or two of local wine for an excellent pairing! For Whites try Riesling, Gewürztraminer, or Pinot Gris/Grigio. For Reds, pick something lighter like a Chambourcin or Pinot Noir. Rosés also work well for this holiday.
Finish it off with some fall decorations: when stopping at a local farm store, grab some mini pumpkins and corn husks for a beautiful presentation!
