Seven Farmers Markets Open THIS WEEK!

We’ve waited through the wind, the rain, the snow … And now it’s finally here! The 2018 Farmers Market season begins this week!!! Our local producer-only markets are excited to welcome YOU back for a season of fun and food. If you have never been to the markets, this is the perfect time to explore all Lehigh Valley farmers have to offer. Check out the opening day activities below. We’ll see you at the markets!

Wednesday

May 2, 11am-2pm
The Farm Market @ NCC
3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem
The Farm Market @ Northampton Community College moves its year-round market back outside into the College Center Quad this Wednesday! This campus-based market offers students and surrounding residents fresh, local produce, amazing sandwiches and lunch options, a CSA pickup site, local crafts, soaps and more! Visit the campus every Wednesday from 11am-2pm now through November (when the market moves back inside for the winter). The market also accepts EBT/ACCESS and provides LV Fresh Food Bucks to double food stamps for fresh and local produce, and accepts the Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks.

Bethlehem Farmers Market
Farrington Sq (New & Morton Sts), Bethlehem
Bethlehem Farmers Market is located on Lehigh University’s campus, right where the university meets the city at New and Morton Streets (1 Farrington Square) in south side Bethlehem. On Thursday, the first 150 guests to visit the Market’s Welcome Table and sign-up for the newsletter will score a FREE Tote Bag. Opening Day will also feature live music from Billy Bauer of The Billy Bauer Band from noon-2pm.  There are some great lunch options with nice seating areas in the square, perfect for enjoying the music! Fresh, local produce is abundant from Bechdolt’s Orchard and Lettuce Alone Farm. The Mending Project will also be on-hand opening day for basic mending and repairs on clothes and other textiles. The market is open every Thursday, 11-3pm, through October. Produce vendors at this market also accept EBT/ACCESS (with double dollars through Lehigh Valley Fresh Food Bucks!) and Senior/WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks.

Saturday

Easton Farmers Market
Centre Square, Easton
Opening day at Easton Farmers Market will not disappoint this weekend! Festivities begin at 10am with Easton’s Town Crier, David Rose, calling shoppers to the ribbon cutting ceremony marking EFM’s 266th year of operation in Easton’ Centre Square. Established in 1752, EFM is the longest continuously operating open-air market in the nation. Mayor Sal Panto Jr. and State Senator Bob Freeman will be there to welcome everyone back to the Circle for the 2018 market season. Bring the kids for free activities hosted by ACE: The Arts Community of Easton and YMCA of Easton, Phillipsburg and Vicinity, along with an appearance by Sunny, the market’s mascot. And get your ‘beet going’ with live entertainment by High Street House Band in the Music Tent from 11am to 1pm. The market runs every Saturday, 9am-1pm, through December. This market is active, busy and fantastic with loads of fresh produce, delicious prepared foods and many other locally produced goods. It’s also a dog-lovers market, with plenty of furry friends enjoying the festivities, too! All EFM vendors accept EBT/ACCESS. Visit the EBT tent to get your tokens and get double the amount for free with LV Fresh Food Bucks! Many vendors also accept the Senior/WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks.

Nazareth Farmers Market on the Square
Center Square, Nazareth
Nazareth Farmers Market is kicking off what’s sure to be a wonderful season! The market’s beloved vendors are returning for another season in the square, featuring fresh and local fruits and vegetables, baked goods, jerky, locally raised meats, and more! The farmers market is located in charming downtown Nazareth; be sure to check out some of the other great stores popping up in the shopping district while you’re in town! (Check out www.nazarethnow.org for more info.) This is also a very dog friendly market. The market runs every Saturday, 9am-1pm, through October. You can use EBT/ACCESS and double your dollars with LV Fresh Food Bucks at Clear Spring Farm, which also accepts Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks.

Saucon Valley Farmers Market
Water Street Park (90 W Water Street), Hellertown
Saucon Valley Farmers Market kicks off its 13th season on Sunday with music from DayBreak Folk; rock painting with Hellertown Rocks Kindness Project; All Bright Yoga; food demonstrations from Life From Scratch; and Second Saturday Spinners! If you’ve never been to Saucon Valley’s market, make a point of checking it out this year! The market is filled with amazing energy from the community, there is a great park for your kids to play at and a nice big pavilion to eat breakfast or lunch, or just catch up with friends and listen to the music. The market is located right on the Saucon Rail Trail, so grab your bikes and enjoy the outdoors, or head into the downtown area to see all that Hellertown has to offer. K9 companions are always welcome and it’s always fun to throw in a little dog watching with your people watching. The market runs Sundays, 9am-1pm, through November. Bechdolt’s Orchard, a Hellertown native, accepts EBT/ACCESS cards (with double bucks through LV Fresh Food Bucks) and Farmers Market Nutritional Program checks.

Blue Valley Farmers Market
707 American Bangor Road, Bangor
The newest addition to the Lehigh Valley producer-only market scene! Entering its second season, the Blue Valley Farmers Market may be small, but the offerings are mighty! Get fresh, local produce and beautiful seasonal flowers from Clear Spring Farm. The market is conveniently situated between Bangor and Pen Argyl, and located on the spacious grounds of the Blue Valley Farm Show. The market runs every Sunday, 9am-1pm, through October. Clear Spring Farm accepts EBT/ACCESS and offers LV Fresh Food Bucks to double dollars when using food stamps. They also accept the Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers.

May 6, 10am-2pm
Emmaus Farmers Market
235 Main Street, Emmaus (in the BB&T Bank parking lot)
Celebrating a milestone 15th season, the popular Emmaus Farmers Market is gearing up for a fun opening day! The Emmaus Public Singing Society is rehearsing and getting ready to kick off the season with some live music. They’re a local favorite with a variety of tunes, lots of energy, and all fun. Shoppers will find their favorite vendors and farmers from past seasons (along with some new ones!) and a few surprises at opening day! Emmaus boasts a great lineup of vendors with something for everyone. The market is located in the heart of downtown Emmaus, with lots of other local businesses and restaurants within walking distance to the market. Pups are always welcome. The full season brings that market back every Sunday, 10am-2pm, through November. Lettuce Alone Farm accepts EBT/ACCESS cards (with double LV Fresh Food Bucks) and several vendors accept the Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition program checks.
